In Eastern Iowa there is a little town called Amana and I swear that it’s the the real life North American sister town to Narnia. Or maybe even the North Pole. Regardless, it’s a downright magical place that makes you feel like fairy tales are real and transports you immediately into another, much simpler, world.
So I’m going to be honest, one of the main reasons why I love this town IS in fact because of the Christmas Market. Walking into this magical store is literally like walking straight into a winter wonderland. Corny? For sure! But magical, 100%!

But Christmas Market aside, there’s much more to this place; from Tea houses, to bakeries, chocolate factories, and even old-time leather and wood shops. Honestly, it’s just an awesome place to kick back, relax and have a slow-paced day.
Of course there is more appeal to the Amana Colonies than their Christmas attractions. The people are wonderful and so nice (as are ALL the people in Iowa); the food is AMAIZNG; and the classic shops are a nice refreshing twist to the hustle and bustle of mainstream shopping. If you live in Eastern Iowa, or even if you don’t, Amana is worth an afternoon visit!
