I have finally lived my dream ladies and gentlemen, by becoming not one, but ALL, of the Disney princesses. You heard it here first. Ya girl wasted an entire afternoon dressing up and recreating the styles and outfits of 5 Disney Princesses. Now, it’s safe to say that I don’t resemble the majority of the princesses. Honestly I would only be able to accurately doppel-gang one. But if you could get A’s for effort I’d be on the Dean’s list because I think I did pretty stinking good when it comes to recreating these iconic beauties. If you don’t believe me let’s just jump right in and you can see for yourself. Remember, not all the picture are my own in this post 🙂 Enjoy!
First up we have Pocahontas! She, being the whole inspiration for this blog post and video, was fun to recreate. I was watching Pocahontas one day (because I watch all Disney movies like they’re reality TV) and thought to myself, wouldn’t it be fun if I could dress up like her. And so I did and here I am.
During the recreation, I mostly just grabbed for anything brown. Make shifting her blue necklace with an old earring I had laying around and the necklace I had on at the time and grabbing a poncho so that I could look more native.
I. Love. Moana. I love the movie, I love her spirt, I love everything about it and this was one of my favorites to recreate because I’m such a huge fan. It’s also one that I thought turned out really well despite me not having a bunch of the same looking items.
For her tube top I use a halter top that I already owned. I turned it around and tucked the straps so it matched hers more similarly. For her skirt, I just used a regular tan skirt and then for the wrapping that she has around her waist, I decided to wrap a matching long sleeved crop around me. I used the same makeshift necklace that I used for Pocahontas and I found a flower to stick in my hair as an extra accessory! This turned out so much better than I imagined 🙂
Next we have Tiana from the Princess and the Frog and once again, I grabbed everything green out of my closet and started throwing it on.
Not having that many options, I eventually came up with this get-up. Pulling a green mini skirt and green tank from the closet was easy enough. I tried my best to throw my hair up into a high bun like Tiana’s and instead of a green Tiara, I wrapped a green ribbon around my head. My “soft” tindriles are a little long and my outfit is no ball gown, but aside from that I think I matched up pretty well with Tiana! Don’t judge me, but I grabbed a little giraffe plush to play the role of my frog 😛
Beauty and the Beast is by far one of my favorite movies of all time. I love how timeless and sweet the story is and I absolutely adore Belle. But honestly, what makes a movie like this for me, is the music. Beauty and the Beast has some of the best! So when it was time to recreate Belle, I was kind of picky.
I went through a couple of blue dresses and a couple of white cotton shirts in attempts to recreate her casual at home look. But finally I settled into a little white shirt and a pin striped strapless blue dress to try and match the look; not forgetting to wrap a blue headband around my ponytail to mimmick her ribbon. Grabbing a couple of books I really got into Belle’s story loving character!
Jasmine is one of the most outfit goals of all the princesses in my opinion. A lot of the items she’s wearing is (to be honest, a little bit extra) in good taste and in retro-ized ways in style right now for our generation. I didn’t really have Jasmine’s color scheme in my wardrobe, however I did have a few items that matched her theme.
So I went for a white off the shoulder crop top and some white high waisted trousers to match. I threw on a white braided headband to try and copy her cool gold one. The hair was the most exiting to recreate! To get her iconic hairstyle I pulled my hair back into a low pony and then banded it down the length with small black rubber bands! Super easy and super cute!
So, how did I do? Did I do the Disney princesses justice or should I be turned into a frog? I had so so much fun running around and dressing like a princess! And it was easier than I thought to give their styles a little 21st century twist! In the video version of this I did a couple other looks like Snow White and Ariel, so if you’re interested in those looks head over to that video and check it out! Otherwise, thanks for reading and I’ll see y’all again soon!
