About a month and a half ago I did something crazy! I drove down about an hour and a half away to go pick up TWO PUPPIES! Now, I am a first time dog owner and honestly I usually have a hard time keeping plants alive, so the immediate responsibility of two little lives on my hands was a bit of a scary feat. Also, I got littermate, and if you guys have ever typed the word into your search engines you would see all types of “warnings” and cautionary tales about getting two littermates OR even two puppies at the same time.
But I just couldn’t say no!
So, first order of business, meet Appa and Osita!

Appa

Appa means Bison and is named after the “Avatar: The Last Air Bender” pet Bison Appa. He (my puppy) is a bit of a whiner and doesn’t like to be left alone much. He’s a cuddler for sure and will fall asleep in your arms if you let him. When it came time to pick puppies out of the litter, Appa was my pick.
Osita

Osita is my little girly puppy and her name means “little bear” in spanish. She is a little firecracker which we weren’t expecting. When she was with all the other puppies she would stay away and lay so quietly as they played around. Now, she is a bouncing ball of energy that even wears Appa down sometimes. Osa (Osita’s nickname) was Carlos’s pick. He loved all the colors in her coat and immediately thought she looked like a cute little bear.

Why We Got Puppies?
We always talked about getting a dog later on, but unexpectedly, Carlos’s family farm dog got pregnant and had 8 PUPPIES! Carlos helped deliver the whole litter on Christmas Day and we felt a special connection to the pups. If our dogs were going to come from anywhere, it would be here.
Why We Got Two?
Like I said 8 PUPPIES! It was hard finding a home for all those little ones. The family ended up keeping 4 in total. Two for us and two back home on the farm. But it wasn’t all just lodging. We fell in love with these two and couldn’t quite choose. So we thought, “why not?” And now we have 2 rambunctious doggos!
How Has Having Two Pups Changed Life?
A lot less sleep! Which I am actually grateful for. They have me on more of a schedule and for sure have me more active! The first weeks were harder as I had to wake up through the night to let them out and sometimes stay with crying kennel pups, but all of that has started to even out and is beginning to fade away. Sometimes it was frustrating, mostly because of the lack of sleep, but just reminding myself that they are basically babies and also seeing their cute faces everyday helped me through it all.
Is A Puppy Series Coming Soon To The Blog?
You bet!
Below I will have some Pup Picture Spam for whoever is interested in seeing how dang cute my little ones are!
