I know this is a little bit late in the day (or night) for a blog post, but I wanted to start December out right with a little bit of a Christmas story. So we’re going to start way back to when I was pretty young.
OK not that young!
But in all seriousness, my love for Christmas started back when I was a preteen. Young and and shipped off to Florida for tennis camps (not “shipped”, more like allowed) far away from home. There would be times where I wouldn’t see my family for months at a time. But even so, there was always one time I knew for sure I’d be going home and I’d be able to spend as much time as I wanted with my family. That was Christmas.
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, but from being away from my family at such a young age, I learned that the truth is absence doesn’t make you love your loved ones anymore than you already did before you left them. It just makes you appreciate your time with them and realize how much they actually mean to you.

So, lessons and all, I started to really appreciate Christmas. But what’s more, I started to really (REALLY) love it. I started to take Christmas decorating into my own hands, created a Christmas activity day (full of Christmas scavenger hunts and decorating contests) and I began to spread the cheer in any way I can.

Now I’ve turned into a little bit of a Christmas nut. But with all the presents, decorations, and sweets aside; I still remember that little girl coming home to her family and enjoying the simple gift of a warm hug and time spent with her loved ones.
Happy December everyone! Lets start this Month off right!
